1996 Sales and Net Income Report

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC) announced today the company's year-end results for 1996. Net sales in 1996 were NT$39.4 billion, net income was NT$19.4 billion, and earnings per share were NT$7.31.
TTSMC had a great year in 1996, especially in contrast to the industry as a whole. TSMC's sales climbed 37% to NT$39.4 billion, a new record for TSMC, compared to a 10% decline in sales for the semiconductor industry. Profits also rose 28.6% to NT$19.4 billion. Both sales and profits surpassed the targets re-adjusted in last September. TSMC again showed in 1996 that it is well-prepared to meet challenges presented by the industry and the competition.
