TSMC Monthly Sales Report – May 2002

Hsin-Chu, Taiwan, June 7, 2002– Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (“TSMC” or “the Company”) (TAIEX: 2330, NYSE: TSM) today announced that net sales for May 2002 totaled NT$15,201 million, while revenues from January to May 2002 were NT$64,357 million.
TSMC Spokesperson Mr. Harvey Chang noted that as a result of increasing demand, the Company's utilization rate was over 80 percent and sales continued to trend upward in May. Revenues for the month increased 13.7% in comparison with April 2002, and 77.8% compared to the same period a year ago.
