TSMC Monthly Sales Report – April 2002

Hsin-Chu, Taiwan, May 9, 2002– Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. ( " TSMC" or " the Company" ) (TAIEX: 2330, NYSE: TSM), today announced that net sales for April 2002 totaled NT$13,366 million, while revenues from January to April 2002 were NT$49,156 million.
TSMC Spokesperson Mr. Harvey Chang noted that the Company's sales continue to trend upward as a result of increasing demand. Revenues for April 2002 registered an 8.9% increase in comparison with those of March 2002, and a remarkable 44.8% increase over the same period a year ago.
