TSMC Monthly Sales Report – September 2002

Hsin-Chu, Taiwan, October 8, 2002– Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (“TSMC” or “the Company”) (TAIEX: 2330, NYSE: TSM) today announced that net sales for September 2002 totaled NT$12,755 million, while revenues from January to September 2002 were NT$119,807 million.
TSMC Spokesperson Mr. Harvey Chang noted that a decrease in unit sales for September 2002 resulted in a 5.8% revenue decline compared to August 2002 but a 37.0% increase on a year-over-year basis. The Company's sales revenues from January through September 2002 represented a 29.2% increase over the corresponding 2001 period.
